RISK ASSESSMENT for
“HAZARD ALLEY”
“Hazard Alley” is the interactive educational section
of The Safety Centre.
The objective is to provide hazard awareness by simulated incidents and realistic scenarios to all user groups.
The building consists of two storeys with conference rooms and the office on the upper floor and the scenarios all on the ground floor.
All visitors to “Hazard Alley” are briefed prior to their tour of the site. The children are then put into small groups and taken to visit the scenarios. A trained guide will lead the group and instigate emergency procedures should it be necessary.
There are two emergency exits situated inside the main building, and along with the main entrance door, they all allow for wheelchair egress.
The building is fitted with full automatic fire detection and emergency lighting systems.
The means of escape are inspected daily.
All effects used in the scenarios are safe products.
All systems used in the scenarios are tested on a daily basis.
All members of staff hold current First Aid Certificates.
The Fire & Rescue Service and the Centre Management carry out the premises Risk Assessments.
Teachers are welcome to visit the Centre prior to the young people’s tour.
