Online Safety For New Devices

Have you bought a new device for your children, grandchildren or a young person for Christmas? Do you know how to help them stay safe when they use it? Join us for a 45 minute virtual or face to face online safety workshop in January for top tips and up to date advice about staying safe online.

Session Information

These online safety sessions have been specially designed for parents and carers to support children and young people as they explore the online world. The sessions are perfect for those who’ve just bought devices as Christmas presents for children or those who want to understand more about keeping their whole household safe online whilst still enjoying using devices. The session costs £5 per person plus booking fees. Sessions lasts for 45 minutes and focus on the positive elements of using technology as well as the risks children can face online.

Our January sessions will be held on:

Friday 19th January 12.30pm-1.15pm online via Zoom

Thursday 25th January 6.30pm-7.15pm face to face at the Safety Centre in Kiln Farm Milton Keynes, MK11 3ES

This short introductory session covering the risks involved in online usage will include:

  • Apps and Games
  • Oversharing
  • Live streaming
  • Grooming
  • Cyberbullying
  • Sexting
  • What parents can do – including setting parental controls, monitoring apps, conversations, and family agreements.
  • Where to go for help

Resources will be shared including links to family agreements and a wide range of online tools to help start family conversations about staying safe online.

Please note- sessions are aimed at adults over 18 and are not suitable for children to watch or participate in.
