School information
Practical information to help you plan your visits.
We are happy for you to come along to look around the Centre ahead of your school’s / group’s visit. Please call 01908 263 009 to arrange a previsit.
You will be sent a copy of our most recent risk assessment upon confirmation of your booking.
It is very important that you complete and return the medical form to us prior to your visit as any information on it helps us to make sure your group has a great time with us.
Please contact us to make a provisional booking. We will reserve the timeslot in the diary for up to two weeks while you arrange your transport and confirm instruction of the booking by email or phone. We will then issue invoices for the deposit, and your booking is only confirmed upon payment of the deposit. The balance must be paid before the visit. As we are a charity which depends on full-occupancy, deposits are non-refundable but we are happy to reschedule a date where possible within the terms of the booking.
Please note, many schools re-book for the same dates year on year so dates get booked up quickly! We recommend booking early and if you plan to come again, we offer incentives so please enquire.
It is important you prepare and communicate the exact booking times to staff accompanying the children on the day of the visit. Tours last for two hours and we suggest you allow 45 minutes for lunch. Please arrive 15 minutes before the booked start time of your tour to ensure enough time for the briefing and bathroom visits.
If you experience unavoidable delays, we will apply our experience to reduce the duration of the tour with minimal impact to learning outcomes so you can still depart at the required time.
We offer an indoor space for your class to eat packed lunches before or after your tour, and in good weather, there is also a grassed area outside the centre. Please advise on your lunch plans when you book. We kindly request that all rubbish from lunches must be taken back to school with you to minimise waste costs for the charity.
We do not have a gift shop, but we offer pre-ordered goody bags for your pupils to take home after their visit. We offer four different price options, each containing various pocket money priced items, such as pens, pencils, notepads and rubbers.
Please order at least one week prior to your visit via the bookings officer.
Hazard Alley was the first purpose-built safety education centre in the UK, designed to give young visitors a unique interactive learning experience. Having opened in 1994, more than half a million children have been impacted to make safer choices throughout their childhood, adolescence and into adulthood. Every week, we meet teachers who excitedly share the nostalgia of their trip to Hazard Alley as a child – and our CEO, Laurena and trustee, Kai are amongst our almuni!
The document below explains how a visit to Hazard Alley could help you effectively teach children about safety as part of the PSHE curriculum.

What people have to say
Great Place For Kids To Learn
Its very good as a child to practice real life situations. Best part was fire alarm where grandpa was upstairs and the portable heater had blown up and we went out and called fire brigade and the ambulance and saw how much damage a small fire can do.
Scary part was the train video where kids was playing I spy on the train tracks .
Fantastic Cubs Trip
An excellent trip for my children’s cubs group. The children all learnt loads about identifying hazards & keeping safe in a very realistic environment. Our guide bob was great, kept the children engaged the whole time. They had to make a real 999 emergency call & speak to a real operator.
